Simpson's Index

is a measure of diversity which

takes into account the number of species present.

Simpson's Diversity Index

n = the totalof organisms of a particular species

N = the total number of organisms of all species

Now..

take away 1 from 15 so, it's now 14. And divide it now to 64. The greater one is in the outside while the smaller one is inside.

Sample:

Species            n               n(n-1)

A                    2                  2

B                    8                  56

C                    1                  0

D                    1                  0

E                    3                  6

T:                N = 15         n(n-1) = 64
